About Aardworks
Aardworks was created in 1995 by Eberhard Ramm and Barry Green. Soon after, Gilbert Long replaced Barry. Eberhard's arrangemnts are the core of Aardwork's repertoire, and are notable for filling the need for good-sounding arrangements for special occasions: weddings, graduations, church services, etc. They are demanding technically and musically, but allow plenty of rest for the players. Varied and colorful, they make extensive use of the members of the trumpet family.
Gilbert Long
Gilbert Long joined The Nashville Symphony in 1978. In addition to his position with the NSO, he is an active studio musician; part owner of Aardworks Publishing Company; a member of the Jack Daniels Silver Cornet Band; and a tuba instructor at Austin Peay State University, Middle Tennessee State University, Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music and Sewanee Summer Music Center. Gilbert holds a bachelors degree in tuba from the University of Louisville and completed work towards a masters degree at Austin Peay State University. His hobbies include golfing, jogging, water skiing, motorcycling and biking. He's also an elder at Bellevue Presbyterian Church.
Eberhard Ramm
Eberhard Ramm was trained as a French horn players, and was principal horn in the Nashville Symphony from 1969 to 1978. In addition, he taught private lessons at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, where he also performed with the Blair Woodwind Quintet and the Nashville Contemporary Brass Quintet. Active as a player in the Nashville recording studios for 25 years, he branched out into music preparation, arranging and conducting. He has a 15 golf handicap..
